Rylands celebrate winning the Hallmark Security Football League First Division South...

Rylands Football Club were crowned champions of the Hallmark Security Football League First Division South on Easter Monday, after securing the league title away from home at Stone Old Alleynians on Saturday.

Playing at Step 6 for the first time in its 108-year history this season after securing promotion from the Cheshire Football League, the blues secured the league title on Easter Saturday with two games to spare

After amassing eighty-two points from thirty-seven games so far; scoring one-hundred-and-nine goals and conceding just twenty-seven, keeping twenty-three clean sheets, it's been a season to remember for the blues, who now look forward to playing at Step 5 in the Hallmark Security Football League Premier Division next season.

Club Secretary, Tony Bennett said "It's a historic moment for Rylands Football Club. This is the proudest day in the club's history and also its most successful season.

"When we entered the league this year, our goal was to consolidate our position and plan to build on that over the next couple of seasons.

"What's happened this year has accelerated those plans. A massive amount of credit is of course due to the newly formed management team of Dave & Stu - this is their first foray into management and they've done a brilliant job.

"They've built a team with a strong experienced spine intermingled with some great younger players and we think they've got the balance right and all congratulations to them and the team, they deserve this day.

"We should also thank the other 'team' behind the scenes of course. A committee of volunteers who give their time freely every week to ensure the smooth running of the club, not only for the first team but for the other 20 teams we have at Rylands."

"We would also like to place on record our thanks to all our club sponsors. Without their continued fantastic support, we simply couldn't have achieved this success."

"From academy right up to an open aged ladies team, they are all part of the Rylands family and will share in the success."

"We will enjoy our success today, but are also already planning ahead for next year".

The blues play their final game of the 2018/19 campaign on Saturday 27th April against Sandbach United at Rylands Recreation Club, Gorsey Lane, WA2 7RZ - kick off at 3PM.
