Future of Rylands Recreation Club

By Rylands FC

An open letter from Paul Stretford on the future of Rylands Recreation Club...

I am writing to advise you all of the progress that is being made off the field to ensure that Rylands Football Club is in the best position it possibly can to see it continue to flourish and expand even further both on and off the field of play.

I am sure you will have noticed the main pitch development to a fully enclosed stadium that includes a main seated stand, on-site changing facilities and now an extension to the changing room complex to include further buildings for storage, committee matchday room & a tea and snack room. You will also be aware that the turnstile entrance has now been completed to ensure the ground is fully enclosed, we are also in the process of completing hard standing around all four sides of the ground complete with underground ducting to enable easy cabling to install floodlights which we hope to add at some point in the near future. These are our phase 2 plans and we hope to have them all completed prior to commencement of the 2018/19 season. As I am sure you are aware all of this takes a lot of extremely hard work and money, so if there is any way more of you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

At present the First Team, Reserves, Under 21's and our Girls teams use the pitch and facilities either full time or regularly, but I am keen to expand its use to our youth and junior sections of the club, for instance when they have prestigious fixtures. I am also keen to offer our facilities to leagues, county associations and cup competition organisers to use our facilities for their finals and showcase what we have achieved to date and continue to improve. Other major developments have also progressed behind the scenes, including my proposed takeover of the club as a whole and I am delighted to announce that at last week’s AGM the resolutions I put before the membership were unanimously passed and over the course of the next month I will complete our due diligence and restructuring plans to take the club forward. My plans for the overall site including grounds and club house are in their infancy at present and I have a number of meetings with key stakeholders including the football club that I must first conclude before giving you further and better details of our plans.

However, as you would expect my plans will see a greater role for the football club within the overall running of the club, but I also feel that the same is true for the rugby section. With this in mind I have met representatives of both the senior and junior rugby sections and plan further discussions over the coming month. I sincerely hope that both football and rugby will be anchor tenants of the new entity and play a key part in the future development of the club as a whole. Ideally I would like to see football and rugby forge closer and better links for the greater good of the club as a thriving, vibrant and profitable organisation. It is my belief and desire that the club should be at the centre of our community and should exist to help us all achieve our goals.

Over the course of the next few months I hope to meet representatives from each team in both the football and rugby sections to discuss ways we can grow together, but in the meantime I hope you are as excited as I am about the future and the potential opportunity in front of us all.

Yours in Sport

Paul Stretford
