Blues return to winning ways on historic first North West Counties League fixture at Gorsey Lane...
Rylands returning to winning ways in the Hallmark Security League First Division South on Saturday with a 3-0 victory against previously undefeated, Wythenshawe Town on a historic day for the club, hosting their first ever Step 6 fixture at Gorsey Lane...
The blues were put under huge early pressure by the visitors, with Conor Yarwood forced in to a fine stop to deny Rhodes from close range, before Liam Crellin-Myers smashed against the crossbar with a drive from 30 yards.
Rylands managed to survive the early pressure and had a chance of their own in the thirteenth minute when Gary Kenny headed an effort straight in to the arms of Da Silva in the Wythenshawe Town goal from a deep free kick.
The deadlock was broken in the eighteenth minute when the blues played a short free kick to Steve Boothman in the right hand channel, who crossed and debutant Tom Croughan rifled home after a scramble in the penalty area.

The visitors reacted well and continued to apply pressure on the Rylands back line, with Steer's long throw-ins particularly causing problems for the blues.
Rylands took control of the game towards the end of the half, with three chances, including a one-on-one with the 'keeper, coming and going before Crellin-Myers came close for Wythenshawe in the thirty-sixth minute.
HALF TIME - Rylands 1 v 0 Wythenshawe Town
The visitors came out guns blazing at the start of the second half, with the best chance falling to Niall Rhodes who was denied by a good save from Yarwood before firing just wide from the resulting corner.
The blues responded with an attack of their own and doubled their advantage in the fiftieth minute when Brad Williams headed home Stuart Wellstead's cross at the back post.
The game began to turn in to a battle midway through the half, with chances on goal coming few and far between. The visitors did continue to apply pressure through Steer's long throw-ins but it was the hosts who controlled possession.
In the seventy-seventh minute, tempers flared and Dylan Stringer-Moth was dismissed by the referee for an incident off the ball.
The game was put to bed in the eighty-sixth minute when Alex McMilan was put in by Wellstead and rounded off a ruthless counter-attack down the left hand side to make it 3-0.

"We started slowly and credit to Wythenshawe, they put us under a lot of pressure and on another day we could have been a goal or two down early doors. We managed to survive the pressure and began to gain a foothold in the game. Once we took the lead, we felt like there would only be one winner from there. Our game management was fantastic and although the visitors still knocked on the door, we defended fantastically as a team. To withstand such pressure from the start and to go on and win by such a margin speaks volumes for the character we have in the dressing room and stands us in good stead for the rest of the season."
