Blues' make it five wins on the bounce with convincing victory at Gorsey Lane...
Rylands took their winning streak to a fifth consecutive game on Saturday with a 5-0 victory against Barnton at Gorsey Lane.
The blues were quick out of the blocks, with Liam Moran having an early sight at goal with a volleyed effort at the back post from Nevil Picton's free kick, before Steve Boothman danced his way inside from the left hand side but stumbled over before being able to get a shot off.
Boothman came close again a minute later when his shot from the edge of the area was deflected over the crossbar after good work from Jay White down the right hand side.
After the game settled down, the best chance of the half so far came in the twenty-third minute when Picton found Boothman in space in the box, but the Rylands no.3 fired straight at the 'keeper on the volley.
White had a chance of his own shortly after with a headed effort that narrowly evaded the back post, before Stuart Wellstead broke down the right hand side and fired in to the side netting as the half time interval drew close.
The deadlock was broken in the forty-first minute with a sublime individual effort from White who turned and took on two defenders twenty-five yards out, before unleashing a drive that flew in to the top corner, leaving the 'keeper with no chance. HALF TIME - Rylands 1 v 0 Barnton
The blues started the second half well, a neat interchange between Elliott Jones and Ste Wolhuter saw the latter fire over the crossbar right footed, before the lead was doubled in the fifty-second minute when Warren Gerrard split the Barnton defence with a low through ball, White raced on to it and finished well in to the far corner. The visitors had a chance of their own soon after, when Sam Houghton drove through midfield and struck from distance, but McCall watched it past his far post and away to safety.
White completed his hat-trick in the sixty-seventh minute when Picton played him in with an inch-perfect pass, before Rylands' no.9 rounded the 'keeper and passed in to the empty net.
Substitute Tom Croughan tried to get in to the act fifteen minutes from time with a surging run inside from the left, before hitting a low effort straight at the goalkeeper.
It was all Rylands at this point, and a minute later Wolhuter buldozed his way in to the box past two defenders and fired in to the side netting.
The reward came quickly after however, and as the game approached the last ten minutes, Boothman cut in from the right hand side and unleashed a low drive from distance that evaded the 'keeper and went in to the bottom corner of the net.
The blues found time for one more in stoppage time when Croughan latched on to a ball over the top, showed great strength to hold off the recovering defender and lobbed the on-rushing 'keeper.

"Barnton came in to the game in a great run of form, so to come away 5-0 winners is an excellent result for us. Scoring just before half time was key and helped us settle the lads for the second half. I'm absolutely made up for Jay on grabbing his first hat-trick for the club, hopefully he can continue his good form. All credit to Barnton who battled throughout the full ninety. I was really happy with the way in which we defended and to have back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season is a great feeling. The games keep coming thick and fast for us and we look forward to our next match at Oswestry on Tuesday night."
