Rylands Football Club can confirm today that Player / Joint-Manager Stu Wellstead has stepped down from his role and joined Wythenshawe Town.
Stu came to Rylands ahead of the club’s first season in the North West Counites a year ago, finishing as top scorer while the blues won promotion at the first attempt, winning the league and champions trophy double.
Wellstead said “I’d just like to put on record thanks to all the players, supporters and committee for a wonderful time last season. The lads were first class all season and it was a pleasure to play alongside you.
Special mention to Dave and the management team, Dave has been a credit to the club from day one and always has conducted himself in the right way. There is absolutely no animosity between us and we will remain friends for sure, I just want to play football matches which has led to my decision to leave.
Rylands are left in great hands and I’m sure they will have a very successful season, it’s great to see them growing how they are. Good luck and see you at the ground soon enough I’m sure.“
The club would like to place on record it’s sincere thanks to Stu for all his hard work and wish him every success in the future.
